Rail Safety Week – September 15-21, 2025
The RM of Coalfields is proud to support Rail Safety Week (Sept 15-21, 2025) and raise awareness about the importance of railway safety in our community.
Safety Tips for Everyone:
-
Stop, Look, and Listen: Always approach railway crossings with caution. Stop before the tracks, look both ways, and listen for any oncoming trains.
-
Never Stop on the Tracks: Never stop your vehicle on the tracks, even if the crossing gates are up or there is no train in sight.
-
Be Aware of the Warning Signals: When lights are flashing or gates are down, it means a train is approaching. Wait until they are completely clear before crossing.
-
Stay Clear of Moving Trains: Trains can appear quickly and are larger and faster than they might seem. Always give trains plenty of space and never try to beat one to the crossing.
As a community, we all play a role in keeping each other safe. By staying informed and sharing these simple safety tips, we can help reduce accidents and prevent unnecessary tragedies.
Join us in spreading the word during Rail Safety Week! Take a moment to educate yourself and those around you. Let’s all make sure that we stay safe around railways and encourage others to do the same.
