SaskPower Wood Pole Inspections

This year, SaskPower contractors will be inspecting almost 97,000 wood power poles and conducting overhead transformer ground grid testing at over 8,200 rural locations throughout the province.  Wildfire protection will also be installed on 2,000 poles in selected lines in the forested area in the La Ronge district.

SaskPower will be looking for damage, signs of decay and carpenter any infestation.

Pole Inspection Schedule by district (all numbers approximate, dates subject to change):

  • Swift Current (18,739 poles) – Early June to end of July
  • Moose Jaw (21,601 poles) – Early June to end of July
  • Melfort (15,020 poles) – Early June to end of July
  • Canora (12,148 poles) – Late July to mid-September
  • Fort Qu’Appelle (12,730 poles) – Early June to late July
  • Regina City Northeast (3,052 poles) – Early August to mid-August
  • Estevan (9,113 poles) – Early August to early September
  • La Ronge (4,328 poles) – Late September to late October (wildfire protection also to be installed in this district)
